Things To Consider When Having An Outdoor Wedding

Many brides dream of fairytale weddings in picturesque locations such as on the beach or overlooking beautiful countryside. The thought of an outdoor wedding is appealing and they can be absolutely beautiful. If you decide that you definitely want to have an outdoor wedding, there are a few important things to keep in mind when you make your wedding plans.

“…make sure you let your guests know that it will be an outdoor wedding, so that they can plan accordingly.”Weather can be very hard to predict at the best of times, and can often turn out to be your worst enemy on your wedding day. The spring day that you imagined being warm and sunny can turn into a cold and rainy affair. Having a spring, summer or fall wedding doesn’t always guarantee that the weather will be seasonable for on the day. There is nothing worse than not having a back-up plan for needing last minute changes or not being prepared properly for an outside wedding.

When you’re planning the wedding and have thought about what the ideal weather will be, you also need to create a backup plan as well. Have an indoor location ready just in case you wake up to a rainy day. You might like to rent tents or canopies just in case. If it is uncomfortably hot and in the middle of summer, make your guests a bit more comfortable by getting married during the coolest hours of the day. Have a tent where guests can mingle and remain cool. Perhaps supply bottles of cold water for guests as well. For windy days, make sure that things are strapped down securely. You certainly don’t want things flying away in the middle of your ceremony. That would definitely ruin the occasion! Also let your hair stylist know that you need your hair to be styled accordingly for an outdoor wedding. That way, you’ll know that you won’t be battling with having a bad hair day on this momentous day.

Being outdoors usually also means dealing with bugs. Even on the beach, pesky insects will find you. There are some sure-fire ways to fend off bugs. I’d recommend using candles that contain citronella. These can be decorated and used as centerpieces or scattered around where guests will be. Although bug zappers might not sound appealing, they can prove quite necessary. Try to keep their use until after the ceremony though, because it might be difficult to ignore the sound of insect executions when exchanging vows.

Most importantly, make sure you let your guests know that it will be an outdoor wedding, so that they can plan accordingly. This means they’ll dress for the weather and the occasion, which is a lot better than having them show up and be incredibly uncomfortable. Even though your wedding day is about you and your happiness, remember to keep your guests in mind too. The more comfortable you make them feel, the happier the memories will be for them and yourself in turn.
